The 87th Annual Flower Show will be held in the Wharncliffe Hall on Saturday 17th August. Flowers, vegetables and fruit will be staged in the Wharncliffe Hall, the baking, confectionery, craft work and the children’s classes will be staged in the Legion Hall.
Entries are to be staged between 6.30 and 10.00pm on Friday 16th August. Paper plates, vases and staging cards will be supplied.
The opening ceremony and prize giving is at 2.30. Lady Ralph Kerr from Ferniehirst Castle, Melrose has kindly agreed to open the show and present the prizes.

The Newtyle & District Horticultural Society is hosting its annual plant sale and coffee morning on Saturday 25th May (9:30 – 11:30).
There will be a good selection of plants (vegetable, herbaceous and annual) on sale in the Wharncliffe Hall on Church Street.
£2.50 for adults and £1 for children gets you in to see the baking stall and partake in the raffle. There will be homemade scones, pancakes and tray bakes served with tea and coffee.
Schedules for the annual Newtyle Flower Show to be held on 17th August will be available.

The recent Newtyle Parents Council meeting highlighted a number of useful resources that are available on the Angus Council website.
Parents as Partners: Parents are the first and ongoing educators of their own children and, as such, should receive information and support to help develop their child’s learning at home, in the community and at school.

Have you ever been to an evening of intrigue and mystery?
I am sure you have but never one like this. The Friends of the Legion Hall are holding a fund-raising evening on Friday 19th April at 7:30pm in the hall. Come along and help solve the mystery of the murder. Karen, Sandy and Gary as you have never seen them before.
Tickets are £3 which includes snacks and you need arrange a team of four to help you crack the case.

The last meeting of the winter with the continuation of the theme “A faith to proclaim by giving”. All are welcome to come along on the evening.
Thursday 21st March is the Guild Whist Drive at 7:30 in the Legion Hall. Please note this is a new date after the January event was postponed due to snow.
The March meeting of the Newtyle WRI will be an opportunity to hear about pet therapy. Meet in the Legion Hall at 7:30pm on Thursday 14th March.
The Newtyle Bowling club is hosting a bingo tea in the Wharncliffe Hal on Wednesday 20th March at 7:30pm.
Prizes and donations are gratefully received. The club is also looking for new members to start the season in mid-April. There are shoes and bowls available for beginners and newcomers to practice with.
