The all-male cycling Shakespeare troupe, The HandleBards, who have reached Scotland (and are performing in Glasgow tonight) with their unique World First cycling Shakespeare tour ARE COMING TO NEWTYLE!
Tonight they will perform ‘Macbeth’ at the GOW Triangle Backcourt, just off Gibson Street in Glasgow, before pedalling to the Kelpies in Falkirk tomorrow to perform ‘Macbeth’ on Friday 25th of July. They will then make their way to HATTON CASTLE in NEWTYLE to perform ‘The Comedy Of Errors’ on Saturday 26th July and ‘Macbeth’ on Dunsinnan Hill on Sunday 27th July.
Following dates include performances in Coupar Angus, Dundee, St Andrews, Rait and at the Edinburgh Fringe. The HandleBards, presented by Peculius, are cycling from London to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh, performing ‘Macbeth’ and ‘The Comedy Of Errors’ at 45 heritage venues on the 2000 mile tour. The fun, environmentally friendly and slightly mad project, which is supported by the Arts Council, is a world first and is representative of shifting contemporary theatre habits – and as we’ve seen with the rise of immersive theatre, audiences are constantly looking for something new and different.
