Jill Steel, the instigator of the Running Mummies team, is one fit lady and an experienced 10K runner. Jill has been training hard around Newtyle and beyond to beat her personal best time of 56 minutes. Hopefully she will be up to speed on the day.
Sam Kennedy came into the race a little late but is eager to take up the 10K challenge. Famous for her luminous eye-catching running attire, she has been ‘lighting up’ the path networks in and around Newtyle over the last few weeks. ‘Getting out and discovering new paths has been great fun and I think I have definitely caught the running bug along with the odd nettle sting!’ says Sam.
Karen Stewart, mother of two, has been out of training for a few years on maternity leave but has been back in action over the last few weeks with Roxy her Border Terrier – not sure which one is more out of breath! Karen is hoping to make it round Edinburgh in one piece…
Amy McDonald, also out of training since becoming a mum, has been seen pounding the Newtyle path network over the summer. Amy could be the one to watch as she is running a warm-up 10km in Glasgow this weekend. Once an Edinburgh local so she is competing on her home turf, ‘Its surprising how fit pushing a buggy gets you’ says Amy.
Sponsorship forms are available in Pirie’s butchery and the Commercial Hotel. Otherwise catch the runners (if you can) on the path network.
