Wind speeds in Newtyle

The high winds yesterday saw trees down across the area, roads closed and electricity power outages. Newtyle was without power from about 4pm to 1am. The weather station in Auchterhouse (www.sidlawweather.co.uk) recorded a maximum wind speed of 71mph (114kmh) at 2:21pm yesterday. It was shortly after this that the large tree in Newtyle Park came down.

The BBC has some extensive coverage of the damage caused by the high winds as does the Courier.

If any of you have pictures of the wind damage in the area please send me a copy (<1MB) and I’ll create a gallery of submitted images.

Here are some of the large tree down on the road past the Eassie and Nevay hall at Ingliston Farm.
